Setting up Digital Docs to run on a Local Area Network













Here you will find information regarding setup and configuration of our software, as well as troubleshooting tips for the software and services we provide. Please notify us by email if there are additions that you would like to see on this page.

Setting up Digital Docs to run on a Local Area Network
  1. Complete “Steps for a Successful Setup” found in the Digital Docs manual. (This will include Step 1 Installation Instructions, Step 2 Registration Instructions, and Step 3 Setup Instructions).
  2. Determine which network drive will be used for Digital Docs. Then create a directory off the root called “digidata”. If your network drive is “G”, create a folder called “g:\digidata”.
  3. Follow the steps listed below, this will only need to be done once :
    1. Right click on the start button and select “Explore”.
    2. Locate the “c:\digidocs\data” folder.
    3. Select and copy all files within this folder and paste them to your network digidata folder. If your network drive is “G”, copy selected files to “g:\digidata”.
    4. Close Windows Explorer.
  4. The following steps will need to be done before using Digital Docs:
    1. Click on start.
    2. Go to programs – accessories and select notepad.
    3. Then go to menu option “file” and select “open”.
    4. At “open” screen make sure that “files of type” = “All Files (*.*)”.
    5. Go to the “c:\digidocs” directory and open “alias.pp”
    6. DIGIDOCSDATA_C will be the only thing you see. Delete it and type in your network digidata directory. If your network drive is “G”, type in “g:\digidata”.
    7. Then go to menu option “file” and select “save” .
    8. Close Notepad.
  5. Open Digital Docs and you will be prompted for a user name and password
  6. To obtain passwords, call Digital Docs support at (877) 8-DIGITAL (877-834-4482)

To Install Digital Docs on an Additional Machine
  1. Complete Step 1 “Installation Instructions” under “Steps for Successful Setup” found in the Digital Docs manual. DO NOT REGISTER EACH WORKSTATION. THIS IS DONE ON THE INITIAL SETUP ONLY.
  2. The following steps will need to be done before using Digital Docs:
    1. Click on start.
    2. Go to programs – accessories and select notepad.
    3. Then go to menu option “file” and select “open”.
    4. At “open” screen make sure that “files of type” = “All Files (*.*)”.
    5. Go to the “c:\digidocs” directory and open “alias.pp”.
    6. DIGIDOCSDATA_C will be the only thing you see. Delete it and type in your network digidata directory. If your network drive is “G”, type in g:\digidata.
    7. Then go to menu option “file” and select “save” .
    8. Close Notepad.
  3. Installation of Digital Docs is now complete. The network administrator must setup a new user name and password for each individual user.
